'Hope or Horror' are typical responses when reading the book of Revelation. It can be daunting to understand, with its vivid metaphorical language and rich Old Testament allusions. Many otherwise faithful Christians avoid it! If we're to believe the opening verses, we should expect blessing: "Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it" (Rev. 1:3) Our small group Bible studies have been working through the book with patience and persistence, and have begun to experience that blessing.
